Forney Industries: History! (Page 3)
From the 1990s to the early 2000s, Forney Industries continued to grow and develop as a leading manufacturer and distributor of metal working and welding products. Under Mr. Anderson's leadership, Forney Industries grew to a $40 million company. They opened an additional warehousing and shipping facility in Horseheads NY. While severing direct ownership ties, Forney Industries - USA remained closely affiliated with Forney Industries - Canada. After his untimely death in 2002, Forney Industries was jointly run by Ted Anderson's son, Steve, and daughter, Jan.
With the explosion of cheap off-shore raw materials and labor during the early 2000s, the little remaining manufacturing Forney Industries performed became increasing cost prohibitive. In 2006 it was decided to eliminate the last remaining portion of Forney Industries' manufacturing and concentrate solely on distribution. In early 2007, Steve Anderson was elected President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Forney Industries.
Today, under Steve Anderson's leadership, Forney Industries is a $45 million distribution company specializing in metal working and welding products, abrasives and cutting wheels, wire wheels and brushes, air fittings, hoses and pneumatic tools, hydraulic fittings, hoses and tools, workshop tools and accessories, steel, aluminum and chain, safety equipment, and industrial quality cutting tools. The company employs 300 personnel across the United States, 100 of which remain Forney-employed sales representatives and regional managers. Our sales force services over 11,500 hardware, automotive, farm & ranch and do-it-yourself dealers and warehouse accounts across the entire United States with a wide range of approximately 4,500 products to offer from 132 suppliers. Forney Industries' main warehouse and distribution center remains in Fort Collins CO, with additional centers in Atlanta GA and Horseheads NY. Additionally, Forney - USA remains loosely connected with Forney - Canada.
J.D. Forney has left a nation-wide legacy that he would be proud of.
