Easy Weld® 160 ST-i
DESCRIPTION
The Forney® Easy Weld® 160 ST-i is a dual-voltage stick and DC TIG welder that gives you serious power in a compact, easy-to-carry package. Run it on 120V household power for lighter jobs, or step up to 240V to weld thicker steel up to 3/8 in. in a single pass. With simple one-knob control, lift start TIG capability, and generator-friendly design, this dual-voltage stick and TIG welder is a flexible choice for farm, field, and home repair work.
Key features & benefits:
- Expert-Tech® support gives you a direct line to Forney’s technical team for setup, troubleshooting, and parts; all from real welders based in Colorado, USA.
- CSA certified to meet strict safety and performance standards ensuring reliability and your safety in any work environment.
- Dual-voltage 120V/240V input delivers flexibility so you can use standard household circuits for small jobs or plug into 240V power for higher output and thicker materials.
- Lightweight 9.9 lb inverter design with carry strap delivers grab-and-go portability so you can easily carry the welder, leads, and cables to where the repair actually is.
- Lift start TIG capability (DC TIG) delivers more precise heat control on thin metal so you can make cleaner, more controlled welds when fit-up and appearance matter.
- Simple one-knob interface with Expert-Set Hot Start and Arc Force delivers easy amperage adjustment and stable, easy-to-strike arcs so you can spend more time welding and less time fighting sticking electrodes.
- Generator-capable design delivers remote welding capability so you can run from a properly sized 4,000 W (120V) or 10,000 W (240V) generator when grid power is not available.

These specs mean you can use the Forney® Easy Weld® 160 ST-i on a typical 120V circuit for lighter repairs and practice, then switch to 240V when you need the full 160 amps to weld up to 3/8 in. mild steel in a single pass. The duty cycles offers practical arc-on time for repeated welds on brackets, angle iron, and plate. Dual-voltage input, generator compatibility, and compact inverter construction make it easy to toss this welder in a truck, head to the job, and plug into whatever appropriate power is available. Lift start TIG and 25-series Dinse connectors also make it simple to add a TIG torch (sold separately) and upgrade your capability as your skills grow.
Ideal for:
- Farm and ranch repairs on gates, implements, and equipment using 120V in the shop or 240V and a generator in the field.
- Home and garage projects like fixing brackets, frames, and heavy steel components up to 3/8 in.
- Light fabrication, maintenance, and mobile repair work where a lightweight dual-voltage stick and DC TIG welder is easier to move than material.
- TIG welding thin mild or stainless steel (with appropriate DC TIG torch and gas setup) when you need cleaner, more controlled beads.
